Salt water (Japanese coral islands) (December 17th, 2002)
Mr. X I lived in Okinawa from 1995 to 1997. I am going back this spring to visit some friends. I was wondering if you had any information on fly fishing Yoron Island or Tokashiki Island? Any information at all would be appreciated.
XLV750R Because I am a mountain stream fisherman I do not know the details of saltwater. The salt water flyfishing is not settling in Japan. Yet there are many achievement in bait fishing and lure fishing. It is onlyunreclamation. I hear that the object fish is many even the number even the kind. It seems to can also aim for it with a light tackle from the shore. It's Giant-Trevally, Dolphin-fish, Barracuda, Tuna, Skipjack, etc. I think that it is good if you arrange the heavy tackle for tarpon (#10-12) and the light tackle for bone fish (#7-10). Although this is Japanese there are some photos of Yoron Island. http://www.asahi-net.or.jp/~yb8k-ookb/fishing.html http://www.bekkoame.ne.jp/~gtkaname/yoron.html The Japanese coral islands looks like the same situation. Okinawa, Iriomote, Ishigaki, Amami, Ogasawara, etc.
