| The prefectural border of Japan is the mountain which is a watershed and
river. Accordingly, the inhabitant area of the trout can classify it every
prefecture almost. Because Yamame and Amago are adapting it to higher water temperature than Iwana the inhabitant area is wide. Yet, it is not the whole land of the prefecture where it classified by color. It is only the upstream of the mountains area. The summer is hot also in Hokkaido of the most north end. Especially because the height above sea level of the mountains area is low the southwest area (Kyusyu, Shikoku, Tyugoku) is limited the inhabitant area very much. |

The salmon does spawning run in a some of river of the south more. The
area of salmon and Sakura-masu almost double. Yet, in the river the salmon and Sakura-masu are prohibition of fishery. There is a complete prohibition of fishery river in Hokkaido. Salmon fishing is produced in the sea. And, It can do fishing by a special license in a few river. (2 or 3) Such a river will increase. Yet I do not know the details because I am DryFly Freak :-) |

Iwana inhabits to most upstream because cold water is necessary more. Ame-masu inhabits in the river and make iwana racial mixture. There is the theory that classifies it into the different species because the figure may differ also in the tributary of the same river. GOGI and KRIKUCHI that are the rare species are in the crisis of annihilation. |

| Environment deteriorated by dam construction and forest felling. Accordingly
there are very few wild fishes. It is relying on the release from the hatchery.
However, the inhabitant area got confused because it did the release that
is not concerned with the species. Fortunately or unfortunately the release fish is not able to breed. Also many fishermen keep it. The present is doing the raising of endemic species in many rivers and situation improved. |
