Object fish of Fly Fishing

Now I would like to introduce the best fish for fly fishing in Japan.
The average size is 20cm to 25cm. In the case of a mountain streams, 30cm fish are trophy size. Accordingly, we make a #3 tackle a standard.

Local breed. It was Landlocked in the ice age. It is inhabiting in a best valley which is most common near mountains. He is a gross feeder. It is said that the snake that swims is attacked. The type that sea run is AME-MASU.

Yamame (More photo) YAMAME = Landlocked salmon
Local breed. It was Landlocked in the ice age. The Parr marks do not fade away. The Japanese-Kanji used in the name of this fish, mean "mountain woman fish". Contrasting it with Iwana we call she. The type that sea run is SAKURA-MASU. (Cherry salmon)

Local breed. Although she is Yamame and the same kind she has some vivid vermilion point in side of body. Distributing in the southwest area of Japan. The type that sea run is SATSUKI-MASU. (May salmon?)

Oshorokoma OSHOROKOMA = Dolly Varden
Local breed. It only inhabits the lakes and rivers of Hokkaido. It is most common near mountains. However, there are many brown bears in these areas. It is easy to fish him. However, it is very dangerous.

Nijimasu NIJIMASU = Rainbow trout
He was imported before about 120 years. He did not come to stay in the river of Japan. The fish that is breeding natural is very trifling. It is a wonderful fish.
Yet, the release of hatchery fish is prosperous. Even Brown trout is inhabiting, although it is a minority.
Ugui UGUI = Japanese dace
Local breed. He is inhabiting numerously the lake and from upstream to lower stream of the river. And, it is the Japanese whole country. He is able to angle very well. However, We do not welcome him. Because, he is not a trout. And, I can not use a dry fly that fished him anymore. It became to Wet Fly!
